Spring update
It’s been a week since the RYA Dinghy Show and it has been so nice to receive some great feedback from all of the hard work that went on behind the scenes from the team who put the show together every year and I feel very fortunate to have been trusted to be the face/voice of the show!
I was hosting from a small room on my own with a camera and my guests signed in from their homes to deliver their talks and answer viewers questions and so I had no idea how many viewers we had at any one point! But I do know that over 12000 people logged in over the course of the weekend so thank you everyone who tuned in to hear from some of the amazing regular speakers and some fantastic new guests to the show. I really hope it helped to fuel everyones’ enthusiasm to get back on the water and racing again just as soon as we are allowed!
I have been trying to get out on the water as much as I can, having recently joined the Waszp class so I’m going through the same learning process that I’ve been through so many times before and as usual, I’ve chosen to do it in the coldest possible water temperature! It’s been great fun even though I’m having to go out on my own at the moment and it takes most of the remainder of the day to thaw out. Getting through my first foiling gybes was really rewarding so onto tacking now and fingers crossed for some racing over the summer!
Things are also very busy with University at the moment, we only have 3 weeks of teaching left for this academic year with it all being wrapped up before the Easter Holidays so its pretty scary to think that I’ve got almost all of the knowledge I will have for my first placement!
I’m really enjoying the longer days and the slightly warmer temperatures and it won’t be long until the sea follows suit and starts to become a bit more friendly for capsizing!
