Hosting the 2021 RYA Virtual Dinghy Show!
The RYA Dinghy Show was one of the last events of 2020 to have gone ahead before the COVID lockdowns began in March last year, working there is one of my last memories of what normal was at that time and it was obvious that planning for this years’ show would have to be quite different!
I worked at the show last year, filming content for the RYA’s Head to Wind video series which has now become 'The Dinghy Racing Channel’ and I am really excited to be hosting the whole show this year! Whilst it is a shame that the ambiance of the show won’t be the same with everyone gathering to talk about the latest dinghy developments and catching up with old friends, the team behind the Dinghy Show have been working really hard to capture as much of that as possible and the timing of it should be perfect- by the end of February, (hopefully and with all fingers crossed) we will be coming out of lockdown 3.0, the days will be getting longer and the air temperature warming just in time for the excitement to be building for a fantastic summer season of racing.
We are busy recording some of the show which can be pre-recorded but most of the weekend will be live with interviews with some of the worlds best dinghy sailors - being virtual, we can also easily include international sailors which will be great! There will be interactive coaching sessions to get everyone back up to speed before spring racing and exclusive show deals from virtual exhibitors. It might be different to the show we were expecting but it promises to be a weekend of excitement all around dinghy sailing and racing and there will be something for everyone.
