Introducing the Athena Pathway
Following our home SailGP event in Plymouth, we rushed back to the Royal Yacht Squadron in Cowes to launch an incredibly exciting Programme which is spearheading the campaign to win the first ever Women’s America’s Cup to be held alongside the 37th America’s Cup in Barcelona, 2024.
The team is led by Hannah Mills OBE and Sir Ben Ainslie and aims to also create a meaningful pathway for women and young sailors into professional sailing and the marine industry. The team has acquired an ETF26 - foiling catamaran which will be used as the training platform to up-skill both the Women’s and Youth teams’ before stepping foot on the AC40, the boat in which the Women’s America’s Cup will be contested.
